“Like mother, like son!”- Yes! This month’s front and back covers capture our great pride in Dr Anandaji receiving the same prestigious award for culture Param Pujya Ammaji received 25 years ago.
The Department of Art and Culture, Government of Puducherry awarded Puduvai Kalaimamani Award to Dr Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani for his contribution in the field of Indian dance Bharata Natyam. He was selected for the award for the year 2016.
The award ceremony was held on the occasion of the 133rd Birth Anniversary of Poet Bharathidasan on 29th April 2023 at Kamban Kalaiarangam, Puducherry.
Hon’ble Speaker Shri R Selvam, Hon’ble Minister for Public Works Shri K Lakshminarayanan, Hon’ble Minister for Art and Culture Smt Chandra Priyanka graced the occasion and gave away the prestigious awards.
It is to be noted that Param Pujya Ammaji was bestowed this prestigious Award in 1999 for the year 1998. She had received the award from the then Lt Governor of Pondicherry Dr Rajini Rai in the benign presence of the then Honorable Minister of Art and Culture Thiru SP Sivakumar.
Dr Ananda offers this award at the lotus feet of his illustrious Guru-Parents Swamiji and Ammaji and his Gurus of Natyam (Adyar K Lakshmanan), Sangeetam (Srirengam R Ranganathan & Puduvai V Manikannan) and Layam (Tiruvaroor R Krishnamurthy) who have enabled him to manifest his best through the fine arts.
Dear and near ones continued to felicitate Ananda for many days in person and over the social media as captured on the back cover.
